Mi-38 Transport Helicopter
History:
A tabletop model of the Mi-38
was first revealed at the 1989 Paris airshow. It is a medium transport
helicopter in the 15-metric-ton class with room for up to 30 passengers.
The production of the Mi-38 is managed by Euromil, the first ever
international cooperation program between Europe and Russia. Euromil
is a jointly held enterprise established in 1994 and equally split
among Mil, Kazan and Eurocopter. Mil handles the general design
and flight testing; Kazan is responsible for manufacture; and
Eurocopter is in charge of cockpit design, avionics and customized
versions. Series production of the Mi-38 started in 2005. It is
powered by two Klimov VK3000s (TV7-117Vs) turboshaft engines.
Maximum takeoff weight for the Mi-38 has been set at 14,500 kg
and internal payload at 5,000 kg.
